I'm Online For Now

We arrived safely in the greater Las Vegas area about 4 days after we left the greater Chicago area. Along the way we were nearly killed about 4 times. We nearly went off the road avoiding some huge jack rabbits. We almost smashed into a pick-up truck thanks to the most awful and stupid traffic circles ("roundabouts" to some) which happened to be at the exit and entrance of the interstate in Colorado. We also narrowly avoided being knocked off the face of the Earth by a runaway pick-up truck and travel trailer. Lots of fun on the road.

We did end up taking a little detour to see the unbridled glory that is...Prairie Dog Town!

When we get the photos and video all together I'm quite sure that I will share with the crowd for now.

In all the house is wonderful. Maybe one of these days we'll get all our stuff. We're waiting on the little boost from our bank in the form of a credit card to arrive in the mail so we can actually pay the moving company to bring back our stuff. Once that happens, this lovely and spacious home, which is all clean and pretty, can be dirtied up a plenty.

My birthday was loads of fun. I've never been the one in this family who was fortunate enough to have a birthday in Vegas. Sadly, with all the moving stuff going on I had really forgotten to make any plans or even acknowledge that I was having a birthday.

Today we received our cable box and cable modem so I can make a few scant appearances online. I'm leaving on the 6th and will be stuck with limited access again for a spell, but for now...some blogging goodness.

Many thanks to everyone who sent some disaster/moving cash, well-wishes, and birthday greetings. You're all the best!

I forgot to mention, Part Two of my podcast return has been up and running for awhile. Perhaps there will be a new episode sooner than you think. Until then...get caught up!

Many Thanks! Next Stop...Somewhere West of Here!

Many thanks to the folks kind enough to send a few bucks to the "Martello Relief & Relocation Fund." I have always had a hard time asking for help, especially money. With all that has happened in the last few months I'm a bit more accepting of the fact that sometimes people just need help. You have all been so supportive and generous I can't thank everyone enough.

We've managed to find of a workable solution to the loss of the loan from the bank and we are now more than ready to head west. Just another way we're both feeling that this is all meant to be I guess. That "one door closes, another opens" thang. If all goes well we'll be able to make the transition as smoothly as you can expect. Keeping fingers crossed.

We head out Friday. Kansas City should be the first stop. Then...Denver. Soon thereafter, somewhere in freaking Utah, if not all the way home. We've got road cash (thanks again) and we've built in some time for a little bit of sightseeing if something pops up.

I'm so damned excited, frightened, and amazed all at the same time. I know I'll be back here soon to finish up contracts, but this is all so unreal. It became more real when the movers picked up our goods today and our storage unit was empty for the first time since April 4th.

All too much. All too exciting. All too tiring. Still and all, a complete and necessary positive change for both of us.

Ain't Too Proud to Beg

At least I'm not too proud anymore.

With all the unusually good luck we've had since the apartment disaster, including the circumstances which have led to our move to Vegas, we have hit something of a BIG setback in the eleventh hour.

I'll be brief.

We were just turned down for a loan from our bank (literally this week...a few days before we actually leave Illinois). This was to be a small "bridge loan" to cover unexpected costs during the move, maybe a month of rent or whatever was needed along the way without breaking us entirely.

If anyone can spare a buck or several, either as a loan or as a gift (I am having a birthday on May 30th) I would not be able to show enough appreciation for your generosity. I have a PayPal account, basically my e-mail address (andy@andymartello.com) is where cash can be sent.

If you want to hear the whole story or some genuinely sincere groveling, drop me a line. All I know is that a few short days ago everything was moving along swimmingly. We were going to start out with things being tight but manageable. Now it seems as though everything is in jeopardy and I'm losing the battle to keep it together.

If you are offering a loan I'll do everything in my power to get your cash back ASAP. If you are offering a gift I'll find some way of paying you back or repaying the kind gesture.

Thanks to...

Something for You to Listen to

Yup, that's right. I'm back in the podcasting saddle again. At least for a couple of shows, I'm reuniting with the mighty Golfwidow to make some of that Podcrapular goodness that literally tens of people have been enjoying and summarily not recommending to their friends for so long now.

This will be the first of two parts. We hadn't spoken in such a long time that there was far too much to catch up on to compress it into one show.

What will you hear?

You'll get plenty of discussion about what exactly happened here on and since March 31, 2007.

You'll hear many terribly funny things...because we're that damn funny.

You'll hear about one hour's worth of me saying, "Hi, Golfwidow" immediately followed by Golfwidow giggling because she's so happy I'm back.

So please take a listen to the show. I won't be back permanently for some time, so you'd better get your Andy fix while you can.

More for You to Watch

Since so many of you enjoyed the video for hit single from my brother's band, PROGRESS REPORT, I thought I'd go ahead and become the last person on Earth to have an account on YouTube and upload something special for ya.

BEHOLD! This project was the last thing I worked on before my apartment was destroyed. I've only just now discovered a minor error that will be fixed before too long. That being said, this is a most excellent 4:40 promo for my act. I've been talking about making this for a LONG time and it is more than ready for your eyes. I'd have shown it to you much sooner, but you knoa...apartment disaster - move to Vegas - too damned tired.

I give you

Updates

I got none. I'm too damned tired. Stop bugging me already.

I will be returning to the Podcast soon. I believe Saturday will feature the first of two new shows with Golfwidow. You better tune in and listen.

Until then...watch this cool music video by PROGRESS REPORT, a band featuring my younger brother. They're performing their hit single, "I Just Want to Rock and Roll".

Off to Phoenix

I won't be online for a few days. Of course, I haven't been blogging much as it is so it is really no big deal.

I know I've neglected my "duties" in telling you all there is to know about the apartment disaster, our vacation, our move...but it has been a very tiring and busy time and truthfully...I've no time for all the stuff I normally have time for. Who knows if I'll ever have that kind of free time again?

Anyway, at least I';m typing this from my own computer. That means...when I get back from Phoenix I can start podcasting for a spell. NICE!

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah...I'm Busy!

Too busy and too disinterested to post. So sue me.

Lots to talk about, but really...Lots keeping me from even bothering.
