Social Net Words

The more social networks I join, the happier I am to have a way to post to them all at once! If only I had something important to say.[SIGH]

Just finished a BUSY week of BIG events. With some luck, bigger and better is on the way. Maybe even leaving the day job. :) We'll see.

I Just Don't Get It

I am as much to blame for this as anyone.

How in the HELL did a show like "Freaks and Geeks" not last, like, a million seasons?!?

What on Earth was YOUR problem, people? How did I miss this one?

We're watching the DVD box set of the all-too-short series and cannot believe that A) we missed out on it entirely, and B) So did all of you!

Damn near EVERYONE from that show is a multi-million-dollar project star these days. The writing far surpasses everything on air these days. I find a reason to laugh my ass off and cry moments later WITH EVERY EPISODE.

YOU SUCK.

I SUCK.

WE...SUCK!

Of course, since it is another show cast by the brilliant Alison Jones Casting, and I am fairly confident I will never get cast by them (I did not get the role of "the plate-spinner" on a Jeff Garlin ["Curb Your Enthusiasm"/Chicago comedian] pilot a few years back and am still kinds bitter about it) I'll just feign some kind of "I knew it" attitude and hope that there's justice in the world to be found by the cancellation of some really AWFUL show. (Not offering suggestions, but I am fairly certain there are a lot of "Everybody Loves Raymond" kind of people out there who are watching some equally stagnant and dreadful show today that would truly deserve having their show sent to the recycle bin.)

And DON'T even try to act superior and tell me you were on the "Freaks and Geeks" bandwagon back in the day. You weren't. More people watched "Manimal" when it aired some years earlier than this brilliant show. DON'T EVEN TRY!

Testing, Testing, One...Two...

I am testing something that just may get me to sign up for EVERY one of those stupid social networks.

You know, those MySpace/Facebook/Twitter things that you all sign up for like sheep, invite everyone you know to be your friend, and then and use like mad until you sign up for the next LinkedIn/Tumbler/PLURK thing, abandoning your previous social network? Those things.

I've stated my opinions on these things before and while I still stand by the statements, I point out that among the reasons I haven't used them is that none of you manage to tell me a good reason to sign up for them, offering no benefits or citing decidedly different nuances that set the new one apart from the old one. To date, you still haven't given me a reason worth my time nor have you stopped in sending me invitations.

You haven't even been able to tell me about a service that would allow me to do exactly what I am doing right now. If this test works I'll tell you a;; about it and then MAYBE you'll start doing the right thing and being just as responsible when signing up for your next Friendster/Yammer/Koornk.

Am I acting smug and superior? Yup. ;)

Still Not at Full Speed

Cannot get my old computer's modem to talk to the ethernet controller and therefore...cannot get online with the thing.  Still using my partner's computer and having some success getting some things done.

Everything else on my computer works GREAT since the Windows reinstall.  I just seem to be missing some very important driver or something.  Something so important that even installing a new PC ethernet card cannot make it possible for me to get online with it at all.

Have a few other tricks up the sleeve before relegating the old tower to s simple office machine, but I miss my own computer.

Would love to chat about other things, but I have to get back to work on the things that don't work at all around here.

Dear Rush

For the record, Democrats did NOT want George W. Bush to fail.

We wanted him to lose (the election).

Having that option taken away from us we HOPED he wouldn't fail.

We knew he would fail US as well as the U.S. if given the chance.

We HOPED he would do better.

We hoped in vain and he did NOT do better than expected.

A fundamental difference between "us" (Democrats) and "them" (Republicans who listen to YOU and cannot come up with something other than "ditto" when they are "speaking their minds" - certainly not all Republicans, mind you) is that we all understand that there is an entire nation of people (not just your listeners) who need help in far too many ways thanks to the guy we'd all hoped would do better than expected and didn't.  If using a Star Trek quote won't sully this point too much, let me make it perfectly clear.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one.

WE THE PEOPLE never wanted George W. Bush to fail.  We all wanted what was best for all of us.  YOU want Barack Obama to fail because YOUR lifestyle may be affected and others you don't like may need the help more than you need another cigar, Twinkie, or dose of Oxycontin.

So please, Rush...Stop pretending you're qualified to do anything other than host a talk show.  If you really want to put your money where your mouth is, why not leave your successful radio show and run for an elected office.  Then we'll all know just how "right" you really are.  until then I say, respectfully...
