Mysteriously...
Everything on my computer is just a hair smaller than it was yesterday. Windows and photos are all the same, but all text is just a bit off. Very odd. Any ideas?

Option 1--highly likely: slip 'o da' mouse and you inadvertantly changed your resolution.
Option 2--also highly likely: your video card is going to hell in a slow handbasket.
Solutions: Check your display settings (resolution) and adjust as necessary to get what you previously had. If it won't do it-- be prepared for a new video card.
Option 3: Doubtful that there is an option 3--but if there is, it really will most likely be one of the above if you didn't reconfigure your browser options.

PS There are other options, but I'll let you check those first before drumming up the other possible problems.

It is still at 1024 by 768, which I believe is what it has always been set at. I do have an older monitor, like 1998 or 1999. Can that have something to do with it? This Sony Vaio I'm running is a powerful mofo and barely a couple of years old. I'd hate to think the video card is that fooked already.
It is still under protection plan coverage. Maybe I'll take it in for a cleaning and all that. Can they do a test on a video card?

Just tried adjusting the controls on the monitor, width and all that & modest success. Some things looks bigger & better. Some still look off. I'm probably fucked.

Hrmmm, if you got some improvement, keep adjusting... I'm betting you slipped with the mouse without even realizing it or hit some buttons on your monitor and knocked something out of whack. Since you've still got coverage--take it in and let them do their thing.
The only thing is that it may look fine on their monitors, and still bad on yours--if so, you might need to replace something. See what they have to say... I mean it's paid fer' already. :)

Just an idea, but has it been very cold where you are? I've heard cold can shrink things... (eg)

See Sue, you didn't have to wait three days for that snappy comment. LOL!
Well, I've adjusted about all I can and some things are still off. I'll have to take it in and see what's what. Cleaning aren't covered, but I'm thinking things like video cards are.
[sigh]

I just need a good straight man... (Yeah, you can take that any way you want, you pervs... LOL!)

Is the text "off" only in your browsers, or everywhere? 'Cos if it's only the text on websites, maybe you accidentally changed "Text Size" under "View" on your browser settings.
I know, you're smarter than that, but I worked a help desk for years and have learned to shave my legs with Occam's razor.

Hmmm...looks a bit better now. I'll go through all the various things I use in a day and see if that was the problem, GW. I'm never in that menu, but I can see how it is possible to inadvertently change the text size if you're hurrying through.
Wouldn't have thought of that one. Many thanks.
