Been Away for a Bit. Hope You Can Help!

I heard the Pope was feeling a bit under the weather. Has anyone heard? Is everything alright?

Oh, if ONLY there was just ONE news station willing to dedicate a minute or two on the condition of the Pope.

;)

I'm pretty sure the Pope has died Andy. :( I think he's lying in state at the Vatican.

I'm not Catholic nor very religious, but it's always sad to see a well intentioned man go.

I was being sarcastic and ironic, Doyle. I'm sure you got that.

It is sad when anyone dies. No need for idol worship (breaking one of ten big rules I hear) and round-the-clock coverage of a guy that will be just as dead and just as well revered tomorrow.

Most of us have the good fortune to not have play-by-play of our liver & kidneys failing. It was morbid to have that with the Pope, but reasonably justified based on who he was.

To have every waking minute of every news report being dedicated to a post mortem is, pardon the pun, overkill.

Wellll Andy.... actually since I don't watch news that often I am news impaired, so I was not afflicted by the media feeding frenzy.

Also... you suck
and second... you suck, lol

Thirdly, I totally agree with you, and when I croak off I hope no one will see my innermost organs displayed in the Smithsonian or splashed across every newscast in the known universe. I plan on using them up before then.

No disrespect to the man. My condolences to those who actually care. But this is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with the news media. If they compressed the 24 hour coverage into three hours, this story would possibly get it's rightful share of time. Has anyone raised the point that there are actually more people in the world who don't care about this?

Absolutely right, Bud. There are billions of people who have the good sense not to be Catholic, or Christain for that matter.

Sure the Pope is a big world figure, but so much hooplah would have to be a little offensive to other religious groups before too long.

Will there be this kind of coverage when the Dali Lama passes?

Will there be this much interest when Father Guido Sarduchi dies?
