The Fatal Flaw of the New Pink Panther

I've no intention of watching the Steve Martin Pink Panther film. It has nothing to do with my love & respect for Peter Sellers, as I think Steve Martin is every bit the genius that Sellers is. Different approaches for sure, but comedic brilliance time and time again.

Last year when I heard about this project I was intrigued and eager to see the finished product. After seeing the previews I am more than confident that the film with suck swamp water.

Here's the real problem as I see it. The film was miscast. Kevin Kline should be playing Inpspector Clouseau and not Steve Martin. Let those two switch roles and you have a chance at achieving excellence. Kline can pull of the accent and the subtle underplaying necessary for the part much better than Martin. Plus we know he's extremely adept at comedic roles.

Just trust me on this. Kevin Kline in the lead role, Steve Martin in the supporting role = hit movie. As is = barely a week in theatres and then MAYBE it will make a few bucks on DVD.

We have no intentions of watching either but not for the reasons you stated. After watching all the previews, we pretty much decided we saw all the good/humourous parts of the movie. What more is there? I agree, Kevin Kline would have been awesome.
